The CCSD Dance Company’s award winning competition team is an elite group of hand selected students who are looking for a deeper level of commitment in their dance journey. These students are joining a program with a history of regional and national success focused on sportsmanship, professionalism and striving to be the best. Competitions are a fun and exciting way for dancers to show other groups their abilities and talents.

Auditioning for the team is by invitation only; however, current students who are interested in taking this step are encouraged to let us know. We would be more than happy to work together to develop an action plan that would include any necessary steps to participate. Our directors, Miss Jenna and Miss Dana, work in coordination with the rest of the faculty to choose which students are eligible to participate. Current students are invited based on natural dance potential, hard work and commitment in class. These dancers have the ability to accept constructive criticism, as well as have a good attitude toward their classmates. In order to receive an invitation to join, students must be taking Ballet. It is also a requirement that students continue taking Ballet in order to maintain their position on the team. Most team members have selected dance to be their primary extra-curricular activity. Attendance in regular class is crucial and can impact a dancer’s standing on competition team. Invitations are sent out in June for the upcoming season.

The season kicks off with a 2 week Intensive held in August. We begin training in October and our season runs through April. Practices are held on Saturday mornings and afternoons. An individual student’s schedule is dependent upon the numbers in which they are performing and will be communicated ahead of practice. The team typically competes in three competitions per season throughout Pennsylvania and the surrounding states in February, March and April. We perform in a variety of dance styles, including tap, jazz, lyrical, acro, modern and hip hop. We also bring a Production number to perform that includes every member of the team.
